30 Years of Progress in Radar Altimetry Symposium

To commemorate the milestone of 30 years of progress in radar altimetry, the European Space Agency, in collaboration with the French Space Agency (CNES), is organizing the 30-year anniversary symposium.

The Symposium, encompassing these events, will be held from Monday, September 2nd, to Saturday, September 7th, 2024, in Montpellier, France. Saturday will be devoted to training on Fully-Focused SAR processing and SWOT measurement principles and processing algorithms, covering inland water, oceanography, and the cryosphere.

Copernicus Monitors Saharan Dust Outbreak Over Europe

The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) forecasted large-scale Saharan dust transport across Europe for the weekend of April 6th. Their forecast indicated that particulate matter concentrations (PM10) across most of the Iberian Peninsula, southeastern France, Germany, and Scandinavia would increase due to the incoming dust. Reality also demonstrated that in several countries, people were affected by degraded air quality, hazy skies, and deposits on surfaces such as cars.

HNPW 2024: Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks

More than 60 humanitarian networks and partnerships are invited to hold their meetings and organize joint sessions at the "Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week" (HNPW). HNPW 2024 will be held in a hybrid format from April 29 to May 10, 2024. The first week (April 29 to May 3) will be held remotely, while the second week (May 6 to May 10) will be organized face-to-face at the CICG in Geneva.

Nine areas of common concern will be addressed for inter-network collaboration. These are:

There is no attendance fee for participants, but participants in the face-to-face week have to cover their costs for travel and accommodation, and make their own hotel arrangements. Nominal invitations for visa support will be provided for speakers and panel members by the inviting network or partnership upon request.
