Asian Disaster Risk Reduction Partnerships

The World Bank (WB) and the Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) strengthening cooperation and partnerships in the region for disaster risk reduction. The goal is to enhance capacity-building and knowledge-sharing in disaster prevention, mitigation and response across East Asia and the Pacific.

UN-SPIDER Technical Advisory Mission to Maldives

Following the invitation from the Government of the Republic of Maldives, a Technical Advisory Mission to Maldives was carried out from 18 to 22 April 2010. The mission team comprised experts from UN-SPIDER, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Disaster Management Centre, and the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR).

UN OCHA Sri Lanka recently launched new Map Atlas

OCHA is the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and one of its multiple mandates is the coordination of humanitarian response, policy development and humanitarian advocacy. To accomplish this mission OCHA produces, prints and distributes a wide range of geographic and thematic maps.
