Following flooding in Niger caused by heavy rainfall that has led to the displacement of more than 225,000 people, UNOOSA, through its UN-SPIDER programme, has requested the activation of the International Charter Space and Major Disasters on behalf of the General Directorate for Civil Protection (DGPC) of Niger.

The project management for this activation is assumed by ICube-SERTIT.

The Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMS) has also been activated for this event.
