Burkinabe Geographic Institute (IGB)

The Geographic Institute of Burkina Faso is a Public Establishment Administrative in charge of the design, implementation and monitoring of national policy mapping. In July 1974, a meeting organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) was held in Cairo. Following this meeting it was recommended to the African countries to work towards the establishment of a base map scaled 1/50000. IGB works to achieve this goal and other purposes, such as the delimitation of its frontiers. Since its implementation, this institute is positioned in the forefront in terms of cartographic work in the sub region. Website: http://www.igb.bf/
