Volcano in Guatemala

President Alvaro Colom declared a state of emergency for the area near the Pacaya volcano, which lies 25 miles (40 km) from Guatemala City as the volcano erupted with a cloud of black ash that closed the airport and forced evacuations of nearby villages.
