United Nations/Germany International Conference on Earth Observation successfully concluded

On 28 May 2015, UNOOSA and its co-organizers, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), successfully concluded the three day United Nations/Germany International Conference on Earth observation in Bonn, Germany.

UNOOSA presents WCDRR efforts to COPUOS STSC

Disasters such as floods affect thousands of people every year. Space-based information can help manage disaster risks.

UNOOSA presented its efforts related to the upcoming World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR) during the fifty-second session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee (STSC) of COPUOS. The office presented its relevant activities during a symposium organised by Japan on the sidelines of STSC as well as in front of the plenary.

UN-SPIDER participates in 3rd High Level Forum of UN Committee of Experts on Geospatial Information

UN-SPIDER's expert Shirish Ravan spoke about space-based information

UN-SPIDER participated in the 3rd High Level Forum of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM). The forum took place in Beijing, China, from 22 to 24 October 2014 and focused on "Sustainable Development with Geospatial Information". The event was held in collaboration with the Government of China through its National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation (NASG).
