The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) will host the United Nations Meeting on the International Space Station Humanitarian Benefits.
 
This two-day Expert Meeting is organized in cooperation with the International Space Station (ISS) Partner agencies and will take place in Vienna, Austria from 11 to 12 June. It will gather United Nations organizations and experts from various sectors and countries and is part of the Human Space Technology Initiative (HSTI).
 
Throughout these two days, the participants will have the opportunity to discuss ways to employ the potential of the ISS for the benefit of humanity, with an emphasis on the fields of education, Earth observation, disaster response and health.
In addition, they will debate on how to facilitate HSTI activities in order to promote human space technology and its applications to benefit the world, with the following objectives:
 
 
Overview of the ISS Programme, microgravity and research facilities;
 
Introduction of a model for extending ISS benefits to the world;
 
Introduction of United Nations organizations with related missions;
 
The ISS as a platform for education;
 
Extending educational activities globally;
 
ISS benefits to human health;
 
Extending health benefits globally;
 
The ISS and imagery and data for disaster response.
