After making a gradual and steady start during the past few decades, geospatial technologies have come a long way to become a vital component for the improved operations of numerous organisations in the continent of Africa. The technology has started to be implemented widely across several verticals including construction, infrastructure, utilities, mining, defence, cadastre and environment etc. While the technologies continue to be deployed, the need of the hour is to bring together various stakeholders of the geospatial community, connect their scattered efforts in order to put the region on the path towards implementing smart governance. With is theme as Smart Governance: Connecting Geospatial Community, Africa Geospatial Forum 2014 will seek to create awareness about the importance of connecting the spatial community, creating spatial data infrastructures and how these infrastructures can play a significant role in the overall growth and development of the region. This objective will be achieved through a series of Plenary Sessions, Technical Sessions, Symposia and Workshops, organised in partnership with key organisations from the respective verticals.
