4th World Congress on Disaster Management

The 4th World Congress on Disaster Management (WCDM-2019) is being organized in Mumbai from 29 January to 1 February 2019 to deliberate on some of the most critical issues and challenges of implementation of the global frameworks on building resilience to disasters. 

Jointly organized by the Government of Maharashtra,the  Disaster Management Initiatives and Convergence Society (DMICS), the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai, WCDM-2019 has been designed to be the largest assembly on disaster management outside the UN system.

The World Congress on Disaster Management (WCDM) is an initiative of DMICS to bring researchers, policy makers and practitioners from around the world together to discuss various challenging issues related to disaster risk management. 

The mission of WCDM is to promote interaction of science, policy and practices to enhance understanding of risks and advance actions for reducing risks and building resilience to disasters. 

National, provincial and local governments, UN bodies, scientific and technical organisaions, universities, civil society organisations, corporate sector and media attended the Congress.
