The Department of Surveys, commonly known as Survey of Kenya (SOK), is the official agency of the government of Kenya on all matters affecting land surveys and mapping. It has been in existence since 1903 and is one of the oldest Departments in the country. The department is responsible for national surveying and mapping.
Geological Survey Department (GSD) was founded in 1913 and has since been the main repository of the country’s geosciences database. GSD is responsible for the study of the country in detail to assess its resource potential.
The Survey Department of Sri Lanka is the National Surveying and Mapping Organisation and also the national focal point of GIS and Remote Sensing with representation in the Global Mapping Project organised by the International Steering Committee for Global Mapping (ISCGM). Its mission is to provide high quality land information products and services through professionally qualified and dedicated personal.
SEGENA was transformed into the Ecuadoran Institute for geological, mining and metallurgical research (INIGEMM) on the 29th of January, 2009. INIGEM’s main mission is to generate, organize and manage scientific and technological information on geological, mining and metallurgical issues at the national level, to assist in a territorial planning oriented towards a sustainable development of the mining resources and a preventive management of geological hazards.
The geological Surveys are national organizations which guarantee an updated geological and environmental knowledge on the national territory of the Dominican Republic. They are responsible for executing national geological mapping on an appropriate scale, evaluating geological resources (mining, water, energy) and their integration into geo-referenced databases.
