The Ministry of ICT and Telecommunication has the mission to provide information and communication services in a timely manner, through the development of telecommunication and Information Technology (IT) with the use of latest technology. It promotes wider accessibility of IT services while maintaining the integrity and excellence of service as well as the increase of IT literacy levels of the public and availability of Sri Lankan content.
The Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs as the Centre of Civil Administration facilitates and coordinates services related to the public administration, district administration, divisional administration, village administration, civil registration and employees’ welfare. It deals with a number of areas such as Public Policy Making on organizational excellence, human resource management, institutional development, electronic government and good governance targeting social and economic development along with the national priorities of the Government.
The Ministry of Technology and Research (MoTR) was established with effect on 30th April, 2010 and is to formulate and implement policies pertaining to the popularization and advancement of science and technology. This includes scientific research and development and transfer of technologies, ensuring improved quality and productivity so as to upgrade economic activities, which are essential for the economic and social development of Sri Lanka.
DMS’s mission is to protect human life and property of the people and the environment of Sri Lanka from the consequence of disasters taking place in the national territory, by effectively dealing with them from a national perspective. DMC prepares the national policy and a plan and appoints centrally coordinated committees and institutions to give effect to such policy and plan.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) makes possible the coordination between governments and the humanitarian community in case of disasters. Thus, OCHA established its presence in Sri Lank after the 2004 Tsunami.
