ASRA was founded to address the notable knowledge gap regarding systemic and transboundary risk. As our world becomes more interconnected, our knowledge about emerging polycrisis that are interrelated across ecological , socio-economic, technological, and political systems are slowly becoming more developed, but it is not nearly to the level it needs to be to address the rapid rate at which crises are occurring. To contribute to the emerging field of systemic risk analysis, and to help leaders and practitioners alike, ASRA have developed a set of principles to redefine our understanding of risk, accelerate awareness of the risks we face, and guide transformative action. The Principles are a diagnostic tool that can be used to identify where a current practice, approach, or regime related to systemic risk falls short and how it should be improved. The short publication ASRA has provided includes an overview of their Principles, ranging from recognizing universal responsibility between each other and embracing multi-discipline knowledge, as well as a step-by-step guide on how to apply such principles when managing systemic risk.</p> </div> </div> <span><span lang="" about="/users/11392" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="">spencer.zinke</span></span> <span>Tue, 16 Apr 2024 - 14:06</span> <div class="w3-row field field--name-field-news-pub-date field--type-datetime field--label-hidden w3-bar-item field__item"><time datetime="2024-04-19T09:42:00Z">Fri, 19 Apr 2024 - 11:42</time> </div> Tue, 16 Apr 2024 12:06:39 +0000 spencer.zinke 13280 at https://www.un-spider.org EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference 2024 https://www.un-spider.org/news-and-events/events/eumetsat-meteorological-satellite-conference-2024 <span>EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference 2024</span> <div class="w3-row field field--name-field-filef-image field--type-image field--label-hidden field__items"> <div class="field__item"> <img loading="lazy" src="/sites/default/files/styles/w390x260/public/image-conference-eumetsat-september-2024_cropped.png?itok=2Qlj_FQV" width="410" height="280" alt="EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference 2024" title="EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference 2024" typeof="foaf:Image" class="caption w3-image image-style-w390x260" /> </div> </div> <span><span lang="" about="/users/11393" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="">josi.bregulla</span></span> <span>Fri, 12 Apr 2024 - 13:56</span> <div class="w3-row field field--name-field-event-organiser field--type-text-long field--label-inline clearfix"> <label class="field__label">Event Organisers</label> <div class="w3-bar-item field__item"><p>European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD)</p> </div> </div> <div class="w3-row field field--name-field-event-date field--type-smartdate field--label-inline clearfix"> <label class="field__label">Date</label> <div class="w3-bar-item field__item">Mon, 30 Sep - Fri, 4 Oct 2024</div> </div> <div class="w3-row field field--name-field-event-link field--type-link field--label-inline clearfix"> <label class="field__label">Event website</label> <div class="w3-bar-item field__item"><a href="https://www.eumetsat.int/eumetsat-meteorological-satellite-conference-2024">https://www.eumetsat.int/eumetsat-meteorological-satellite-conference-2024</a></div> </div> <div class="w3-row field field--name-field-venue field--type-string field--label-inline clearfix"> <label class="field__label">Venue</label> <div class="w3-bar-item field__item">Conference Centrum Würzburg</div> </div> <div class="w3-row field field--name-field-training-city field--type-string-long field--label-inline clearfix"> <label class="field__label">Venue City</label> <div class="w3-bar-item field__item">Würzburg</div> </div> <div class="w3-row field field--name-field-training-country field--type-entity-reference field--label-inline clearfix"> <label class="field__label">Venue Country</label> <div class="w3-bar-item field__item"><a href="/category/countryregion/germany" hreflang="en">Germany</a></div> </div> <div class="w3-row field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-above"> <label class="field__label">Description</label> <div class="w3-bar-item field__item"><p>The 2024 EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference will take place in Würzburg, Germany, from September 30 to October 4. One of those procedures, developed and launched by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission (EC) a decade ago, is the <strong>Index for Risk Management </strong>or <strong>INFORM</strong>. As stated by this Commission, INFORM is a collaboration of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Reference Group on Risk, Early Warning and Preparedness and the European Commission. More information on INFORM is available <a href="https://drmkc.jrc.ec.europa.eu/inform-index">here</a>.&nbsp;</p> <p>The 2024 edition of the annual report of INFORM was recently launched, and shows a general increase in the risk, despite an increase in coping capacities. On a more regional scale, the largest increase in risk over the decade was found to occur in the Americas, and a general increase in risk in all regions besides Asia. In terms of root causes for these crises, the report found that human factors, including displacement, conflict, violence, political instability, are significant drivers of large increases in risk. &nbsp; This 2024 annual edition of INFORM can be accessed <a href="https://drmkc.jrc.ec.europa.eu/inform-index">here</a>.</p> </div> </div> <span><span lang="" about="/users/11392" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="">spencer.zinke</span></span> <span>Mon, 25 Mar 2024 - 13:14</span> <div class="w3-row field field--name-field-news-pub-date field--type-datetime field--label-hidden w3-bar-item field__item"><time datetime="2024-03-25T12:00:00Z">Mon, 25 Mar 2024 - 13:00</time> </div> Mon, 25 Mar 2024 12:14:08 +0000 spencer.zinke 13274 at https://www.un-spider.org
