On 5 August 2014 the International Charter: Space and Major Disasters was activated at the request of Asia Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC) on behalf of UN-SPIDER's Regional Support Office, the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). The reason of the activation is a landslide in the Sindhupalchowk District of Nepal which occurred on 2 August due to heavy rains.
The European Commission is calling for expressions of interest for the “Copernicus Expert Group”. The Group has been established in order to provide the Commission with independent assessment of the Copernicus program status and evolution.
The White House is currently working with NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and different technology companies to create a website and database with information on how climate change affects public health and infrastructure in the United States.
