U.S.A.F. launches new meteorological satellite

On 03 April 2014 07:46 PDT the U.S. Air Force Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) successfully launched the 19th satellite payload DMSP-19 into space from the Space Launch Complex at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA, USA. The payload is equipped with a Special Sensor Microwave – Imager/Sounder (SSMIS), UV imagers in order to carry out its primary missions of cloud imagery, microwave imaging, temperature and humidity sounding as well as other instruments for the monitoring of space weather.
