SERVIR is the Regional Visualization and Monitoring System for environmental management and disaster response. In 2008, NASA and CATHALAC partnered with RCMRD, and together they began setting up SERVIR's East Africa node. The mission of SERVIR Africa is "enable the use of Earth observations and predictive models for timely decision making to benefit society".

To accomplish its mission, SERVIR achieves the integration of satellite observations and predictive models with other geographic information to monitor and forecast ecological changes and respond to natural disasters.
