FAO's mandate is to support members in their efforts to ensure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food. FAO can help by supporting policies and political commitments that promote food security and good nutrition and by making sure that up-to-date information about hunger and malnutrition challenges and solutions is available and accessible.
The main FAO's goals are:
1. the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition;
2. the elimination of poverty and the driving forward of economic and social progress for all;
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food of Guatemala is a public institution that promotes the sustainable management of the natural resources in order to prompt the territorial, agricultural, forestall and hydro-biological development. It tries to ensure food security from the competitive chains that supply the national and international markets.
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources is responsible for establishing standards for the conservation, protection, enhancement and restoration of the environment and natural resources, ensuring their sustainable utilization.
