The 6th International Building Resilience Conference 2016, with the theme “Building Resilience to Address the Unexpected” is proudly organized jointly by the Construction Management Groups at Massey University and The University or Auckland.

The Building Resilience Conference is a an annual international conference exploring resilience as a useful framework of analysis for how society can cope with the threat of natural and human induced hazards. This is the sixth event in the Building Resilience Conference series and follows on from previous successful events.

The 6th International Building Resilience Conference 2016 will be held in Auckland, New Zealand 7-9th of September, 2016. The vibrant annual international Building Resilience Conference series brings together researchers, educators and industry practitioners involved in natural hazards and disaster resilience across the globe, providing participants with a strong platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, disciplinary reflections, institutional exchange and collective growth.

2016’s conference is co-hosted by The University of Auckland and Massey University, New Zealand. The Global Disaster Resilience Centre (GDRC) at School, of Art, Design and Architecture at the University of Huddersfield, UK will be a key partner of this event and will be collaborating closely with the hosts in making this event a success. The International Journal of Disaster Resilience in the Built Environment will also be partnering with this event.

Authors are invited to submit the title and an abstract for consideration for oral or poster presentations of about 250 words by online abstract submission form using the following webpage: http://buildresilience2016.nz/ 

Papers on a broad range of topics related to Building Resilience are invited. All papers will be reviewed by 2 peers and the proceedings including full papers will be provided at the conference. Selected high quality papers will be published in the special issue of International Journal of Disaster Resilience in the Built Environment.
