UN-SPIDER and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of India jointly supported a training workshop on "Space technology applications in disaster management and emergency response" at New Delhi India. The workshop was organised by the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM). UN-SPIDER designed the programme with help of NIDM, NDMA supported the programme by inviting the appropriate nominations. The programme was hosted at NIDM. It brought together 25 key participants and resources persons. The resources persons provided latest trends in disaster risk reduction and space technology interventions. The participants shared best practices and also conducted brainstorm the existing gap between the end users and technology providers. The workshop outcomes will be drafted and circulated to NDMA and State Disaster Management Authorities for their reference and follow-up.

The UN-SPIDER and NIDM have hosted such events since 2010. This was third such workshop in the series based on the recommendations of previous workshops.
