Moclic: Monitoring Climate Change with geo-referenced Data

Moclic uses geo-referenced climate data

Researchers from the Center of Environmental Geography Research (CIGA) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico designed a software to organize, store and operate geo-referenced data from climate elements: Moclic. The software can calculate bio and agroclimatic indicators, such as humidity, aridity, rain erosion and rainfall concentration thus allowing users to relate them to local crops production figures or disasters.

Skybox publishes first high-resolution Video of Earth from Space

Swiss Re estimates losses from disasters to amount to 130 billion USD in 2013.

The reinsurance company Swiss Re estimates the loss created by disasters worldwide in 2013 to amount to 130 billion USD. Their preliminary sigma estimates that insured global losses from catastrophes triggered by natural hazards and man-made disasters totalled USD 44 billion, with flooding a major driver.
